General Butler State Resort Park

Beautiful rustic hotel in a state park, we will be back!

Pros: Nostalgic hotel in a beautiful state park setting. The room was rustic and nostalgic in design yet well equipped and exceptionally clean. The balcony had a beautiful view of the pool and woods. They had the best hotel breakfast that I've ever had, the potatoes were delicious!

Cons: Sadly, the pool was closed. I really hope it is open the next time we stay, it is one of the biggest hotel pools I've seen and actually had a deep end!

Pros: Rooms are large and clean. Lodge is dog friendly. Food is decent.

Cons: I would offer pillows of various firmness. Sound isolation is not good, you can hear people next door.

Pros: Very peaceful, room was very clean and the hotel was very quiet

Cons: The wasp nest on outside door to balcony

Pros: We had the cottage and it was winter and very cold and had no extra blankets so she gave me a table cloth. So just take blankets in the winter 🫶🏻 it was clean very beautiful inside! Sky light and kitchenette and small bathroom but worked! It was very cute for a winter stay!

Pros: Breakfast excellent; however our confirmation indicated it would be included which it was not.

Great state park facility

Pros: It’s beautiful there! There are plenty of activities to keep you busy. The lodge room were very clean and expansive. The temporary dining room was large and the wait staff was helpful and kind. Wonderful place!

Cons: The food was not great. A little too much like cafeteria food, but the pricing was great!

Absolutely wonderful, state park and surrounding area were beautiful, Carrollton is a hidden gem of Kentucky.

Pros: Property was clean and well maintained, lodge and cabins within the state park. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons: Several renovations taking place so restaurant of lodge was relocated to a different area than the lodge.

Clean place to stay , Don't expect special requests being accommodated

Pros: There was no free breakfast , the restaurant was being renovated. Room was very clean & nice.

Cons: The wait to register was a slow process with just 2 customers ahead of us took a good 20-25 minutes to get registered . The Receptionist didn't appear to know how to ask people calling -in to 'hold the call\

General Butlers is a great place and we will be coming back soon

Pros: We loved how accomodating every member of the staff were to us. We were able to take our dog everywhere with us during our stay even while dining. The front desk, wait staff, pool attendants, lifeguards, grounds keepers, and the manager were above and beyond hospitable to us and our dog, making us feel welcome and engaged during our stay. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and make you want to stay longer. The pool is amazing, they have a true deep end at 8 foot and the entire pool is huge. The grounds were kept nice and we saw several sets of deer and other animals. We met other guests and just really enjoyed a nice few days away from the city to relax. We ate dinner and breakfast there and it did not disappoint. The food was incredible and priced at a great value. We love everything about General Butler.

Cons: There was nothing we didnt like.

Pros: Beautiful, quiet, secluded location. The Lodge was so unique in architecture. Buildings are not built so beautifully anymore.

Cons: At the time the restaurant was closed for remodeling, and we were even told that it opened at 7am while we were there.
